Cleveland, Ohio - On Wednesday afternoon the girl’s Toledo Christian and Medina High School teams came to face off at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. TCHS was 8-1 coming into the game while Medina was 7-5.
Winning the tip was Medina but they turned the ball over. Kayloba Butler started off TCHS next possession with a triple, giving them the first points of the game. Kendall Braden also hit a 3-pointer for Toledo Christian.
For Medina, Regan Todia blocked a shot inside, causing the ball to go out of bounds. To end the quarter, Braden hit another 3-pointer. The score at the end of the first was 14-10 in favor of Toledo Christian.
To start the second quarter, Kate Bobey ran In transition for Medina and scored an easy bucket inside. Both teams had a bit of a scoring drought, not really getting anything to fall for a while.
Medina took the lead, mainly by finding a groove at the charity stripe. The Bees held a 21-18 lead at the half.
To start the third, Medina hit a 3-pointer, the first points of the new half. Todia later got fouled on a 3-point shot, and nailed all of her three free throws. She later hit two more foul shots after getting fouled on a transition layup.
After that, Medina was up by double digits, and it didn’t look like that would change any time soon as how momentum was in their favor. The score at the end of the third was 32-27 Medina.
To start the fourth, Braden picked off a pass for Toledo and hit a floater inside to get the first points of the last quarter. Jordan Rosales later hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 34 a piece.
With a minute left, Medina turned the ball over on a questionable traveling call. Toledo Christian hit a 3-pointer afterwards, taking the lead. Medina got fouled, but missed both free throws. Kaylona Butler hit both free throws after being fouled for Toledo icing the game. Toledo Christian came out on top 46-41.
