The Cardinal Huskies take down the Rootstown Rovers 69-53

Middlefield, OH - On Tuesday night the Huskies hosted the Rovers on a special night where Cardinal guard Jacob Bean would set the schools all time scoring record.

Starting the game the Huskies fell behind as Rovers forward Cameron Mahone made the first two baskets of the game and got off to a quick lead as he helped his team put up 16 points in the first.

However, Cardinal was able to fight back as Bean was able to put up 8 points in the first, while his teammate Paul Gall III was able to get almost every defensive rebound as the Huskies put up 17 points and took a first quarter lead of 17-16.

With the 8 points he scored in the first quarter, Jacob Bean was able to grab the all-time scoring record for Cardinal High School.

In the second the Rovers were able to make the first points because of a pair of three pointers from Brady Fillmore and Mahone to take the lead. Unfortunately for them the excitement was short lived.

Cardinal's offense picked things up almost right away, putting up a three pointer from Taylor O'Brien and totaling 22 points in the second giving them a comfortable 39-31 lead at the half.

Coming out of the half the Rovers were looking to take the lead again and keep it, but things weren't going their way as they weren't getting rebounds and their shots weren't falling. Despite all of that the Rovers were still able to put up 18 points.

The Huskies were looking to hold their lead, and really stop clamp down on Rootstown defensively. Jacob Bean was able to put up six points in this quarter and his teammate Gall III was able to put up six of his own as they were able to maintain a 55-49 lead after three.

Entering the final quarter the Huskies were looking to close out the game while the Rovers were in a tough spot and had to make a comeback.

Luckily for the Huskies Bean, Gall, and O'Brien were able to close out the game and combine for 14 points, while also playing phenomenal defense in the process.

Unfortunately for the Rovers, nothing seemed to go well for them in the final quarter as they only put up four points. Cardinal too the win 69-53.
