Between both football and basketball coverage, it's been hard to find time to write the annual BelieveLand Buckeye of the Month award articles, but Taylor Mikesell definitely deserves this award for December 2022. She is the leader of the No. 3 team in the nation and put together an outstanding month of December for the Ohio State Buckeyes, held a scoring average of 18 points per game and capped off the month with wins over ranked teams in Oregon and their northern rivals. In those two massive games for the undefeated Buckeyes, she combined for 41 points to push the Buckeyes out to victory. She was named to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll on December 5th and has also been up for the Big Ten Player of the Week on multiple occasions.
Honorable Mentions
Cotie McMahon- The freshman has taken home the Big Ten Freshman of the Week multiple times throughout the month of December. If not for Mikesell's massive performances against Oregon and Rutgers, McMahon would likely have taken home the award for December.
Brice Sensabaugh- The men's basketball team is full of young players, but this one has shined above the rest. Sensabaugh is looking like the next "one and done" player at Ohio State and is being trusted to lead this team through every late possession and has even drained a couple of buzzer beater game winning shots this season. He currently leads the team in scoring and took home multiple Freshman of the week awards in the Big Ten during this season.
