STREETSBORO, OH- Tuesday night the Streetsboro Rockets looked to continue their hot start to the season as they welcomed in the Ravenna Ravens. The Rockets are off to a 4-0 start to the season coming off of a 61-39 win over Woodridge. The Ravens were looking to get back in the win column coming off of a tough home loss to Garfield. After a slow start the Rockets turned up the heat in the 2nd half as they cruised to a 63-34 victory.
It was a quick start for the Ravens who jumped out to a 6-0 lead that started with a Bryant Thompson three to open the game. The Rockets would get on the board on a three ball by sharp shooting guard Jack Batten.
The Rockets cut the deficit to two at the end of a low scoring first quarter as Ravenna led 11-9 after one.
Streetsboro would take their first lead at the 6:28 mark of the second quarter on a Charles Ivory basket. The teams would trade baskets for two possessions before another Batten three put the Rockets ahead 18-15. They would go up by as many as eight with under two minutes to play in the half, and take a 26-19 lead into the break. Ivory and Batten led the scoring for the Rockets with 6 points a piece. Bryant Thompson had 10 for the Ravens.
Curtis Ross would open the 2nd half scoring for the Ravens cutting the deficit to 26-21. The Rockets would then go on a 14-3 run to open up their biggest lead of the night at 40-24 that included five straight points from Preston Laryea. Ravens senior Nigil Williams left with a leg injury during the Rockets scoring run and would not return. Ravenna would score the final four points of the quarter to make it a 40-28 lead for Streetsboro after three.

The Rockets came out looking to put the game away early in the 4th. They would open on a 9-0 run with buckets by four different players to take a 21 point lead at 49-28. After back to back baskets by Ravenna's Bryant Thompson, the Rockets would close out the game outscoring Ravenna 14-2 to make the final score 63-34. It was a big second half for the Rockets who outscored the Ravens 37-15 after leading by seven at the half.
Charles Ivory led the way for the Rockets with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Jack Batten and Preston Laryea also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Jackson Gula grabbed 8 boards.
Bryant Thompson had a nice game for the Ravens with 17 points and 5 rebounds, knocking down three from long range.
Streetsboro will look to keep it rolling on Thursday at Field while Ravenna travels to Coventry that same evening.
