Southeast walks past Windham 17-3

WINDHAM, OH- It was a partly sunny but chilly morning in Windham on Saturday as the Bombers welcomed in the undefeated Southeast Pirates. It's been a rough few weeks of weather for Portage County Baseball and Softball teams with many postponements. The dry but cool weather was a welcome sight! The patient Pirates hitters drew 14 walks en route to their 17-3 win.

Southeast got things going in a big way with a 9 run first inning. A fielding error, single and a walk loaded the bases before Caleb Miller and Joe Sharish each had a run scoring single plating the first two runs of the game.

It would be capped off by a 2-run double from Nate Muncy before Bombers pitcher Anthony Paoelella was finally able to retire the side. 5 hits, 4 walks, a hit by pitch and 9 runs in the top of the first.

The Bombers were able to load the bases against Pirates starter Logan Livigna after walks to Dylan McCune and Jack Eye and a two out single by Peoelella, but Livigna was able to get Nick Hopper on strikes to end the threat. The Pirates led 9-0 after one.

Southeast picked up another run in the 2nd on a wild pitch and two more in the 3rd on fielders choice ground outs. Nate Muccino took over on the mound for Southeast in the 2nd and tossed two scoreless innings striking out 4. The Pirates led 12-0 after three.

The Pirates plate patience was very evident in the 4th as they drew 4 walks, three of which came with the bases loaded by Cohen Richardson, Zach Keto and Zach Balk giving them each a free RBI. In the bottom half of the inning Balk was able to work around three walks and a bases loaded, one out situation. The Pirates led 15-0 after four.

The Bombers were finally able to plate a few runs across in the bottom of the 5th on a wild pitch, hit by pitch with the bases loaded and a groundout by Austin Cales.

The Pirates took this one 17-3.
