Rocky River outlasts N. Ridgeville 58-50 in game 3 of the RR Holiday Classic



Rocky River, Ohio - On Tuesday evening the North Ridgeville girls team faced off against Rocky River in game 3 of the Rocky River Holiday Classic.


Winning the tip was North Ridgeville and Grace Kingery scored inside to start the game. Maddy Eldridge scored a 3-pointer the next possession for the Rangers. Both teams were scoring back and forth. Kingery hit a shot from way outside which was a heat check shot.

Reyna Balderas also hit a shot from way outside with a bit left in the first quarter. The score at the end of the first was 18-12 in favor of North Ridgeville.



To start the second quarter, Kat Crevda blocked a shot inside causing the North Ridgeville bench to cheer. Gabby Thibodeax hit yet another 3-pointer for North Ridgeville. Both teams seemed to stray away from the 3-point shot after that. Both sides took a lot of perimeter shots. The score at halftime was 29-23 with North Ridgeville in the lead.


To start the second half Ava Patti hit a layup to get Rocky River on the board. The game got tied up at 29 a piece soon after but North Ridgeville quickly took the lead back. The Rangers blocked a shot inside and the ball went out of bounds. The score at the end of the third was 41-40 with North Ridgeville still on top.



To start the final quarter North Ridgeville got a 3 second violation. Not a lot of scoring happened for a bit, but Rocky River scored a free throw to tie the game at 41. Patti got fouled and went to the line, where she hit one free throw. Grace Kingery hit 1,000 career points for North Ridgeville after one made free throw, so the game was paused for a bit to celebrate and honor her achievement. Rocky River was able to take control in the fourth and come away with the 58-50 win. Ava Patti was the star of the game leading the way with 30 points for Rocky River.
