Alliance, OH- In the final game of the Alliance Christmas Classic at the University of Mount Union, it was the Jackson Polar Bears squaring off with the Alliance Aviators. The Federal League power is a staple of the annual holiday tournament given the connection between Mount Union Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Fuline and the Jackson program.
The Polar Bears led from start to finish, stretching the lead to as many as 30 points in the latter stages of the 3rd quarter. While it was Senior Wing Mitch Finefrock leading the way with 23 on 8/11 shooting (7/10 from 3), the Polar Bears starting 5 was 4/5 with putting double digits in the score book. Cole Baker ended the night with 18, followed by Mount Union commit Cameron Weekley with 13. Rounding out the double digit scoring for the Polar Bears was Kyle Monterrubio with 11. Kaiden Loy finished just under the double-digit plateau with 9. The Polar Bears shot 60% from the field and beyond the arc while going 11/13 from the charity stripe.
For the Aviators, it was JR Jackson leading the effort with 23 points. Kam Burton and Cole Pasco chipped in 17 and 14 respectively. The loss is the Aviators third in a row, dropping their season record to 3-3 while the victory lifted the Polar Bears to 4-1 to end the 2024 portion of the season.
