Padua & Solon go back and forth; Bruins come away with 7-4 win

Solon OH- The Padua Bruins (9-12) took on the Solon Comets (10-8)

Adam Niederst got the start on the bump for Solon, working a quick first which started off with his first strikeout of the game. Alex Mester put the first hit on the board with one out. The Comets would strike first with Adam Niederst´s two-out RBI single scoring Mester form 2nd. EJ Taylor´s single would send Niederst to 3rd. Taylor forces a bad throw down to 2nd on a steal attempt as Niederst scored on the error. Harley Barmen went down on strikes to Bruins starter Matt Moscarino.

Niederst continued his strong start in the 2nd, collecting two more strikeouts.

Ethan Zhao and Connor Keough both singled to start the Solon half of the 2nd inning. But Moscarino works out of it by striking out Zach Rosen and getting Caleb Walker to hit into a nicely turned double play by Padua shortstop Micheal Niro.

The aformentioned Niro collected a leadoff single in an inning where Padua would tie and take the lead. Following a groundout from Trey Martin, Zach Zelma picked up the 2nd hit of the inning for Padua. Logan Petti and Jacob Duliba both drew walks. Duliba´s walk would drive in the first run of the game for the Bruins. Lucas Palange knotted it up with a clutch single, and with them still loaded a Yuri Bellina line drive to left turns things around as Padua takes a 3-2 lead. Adam Mindzora would deliver the last blow to Solon with a his RBI single as the Bruins put a four-spot up in the 3rd. Niederst would work out of the inning without allowing anymore damage to be done. Besides Charlie Bubonics reaching on an error, but nothing comes of it as Moscarino struck out the Comets starter Adam Niederst which would send us to the 4th.

Niederst would pitch another clean 1-2-3 inning with a pair of strikeouts and fly out to left. Moscarino would return the favor forcing all three Comet batters to hit into put-outs.

With Solon down by a pair, they were in need of another quick inning, and Niederst delivered. In the bottom of the 5th the Comets would come storming back to knot things up at four. Walker and Mester reached with walks. Charlie Bubonics picks up the first big hit of the inning as he cut the Bruin lead down to one with his RBI single. EJ Taylor with the biggest hit of the night for the Comets as he tied it up with an RBI double to left. A Harley Barmen walk loaded them up for Solon, Zhao became the final out of the inning.

Moscarino and Niro collect a base hit each to give Trey Martin an opportunity to give Padua the lead right back. He did just that, connecting for a go-ahead two-run double. The next three Bruin batters were retired as Padua had retaken the lead up 6-4. Keough was hit by Mindzora and Miles Szach gave life to Solon with two on and nobody out in the 6th. Nathan Krayzel was brought on for relief, getting Walker out on strike three looking. He issued a walk to Mester but back-to-back fly outs get Padua out of a bases loaded jam.

Palange tripled and would become a huge insurance run for Padua as Bellina singled to right putting the Bruins up 7-4. With two outs, Moscarino picked up a basehit, but Niro was rung up on strikes to send Solon to the 7th down 7-4. Krayzel forced EJ Taylor and Harley Barmen to fly out before striking out Ethan Zhao to end it.

The Padua Bruins won a dog fight with a big 11 hit night for the offense. Micheal Niro, Matt Moscarino, Yuri Bellina and Lucas Pulange all had a pair of base hits. Bellina and Trey Martin led the way with two RBIs a piece.
