Norton holds off Coventry 54-50

This was a fantastic matchup that showcased both teams’ competitive spirit and determination. Coventry entered the game as one of the top teams in the conference, but Norton made a statement by showing they belong in that same conversation.

Coventry controlled the tempo early, leading at halftime in what was a low-scoring affair. They carried their momentum into the third quarter, but Norton refused to back down. Stone Hardy and Landon Abernathy sparked the Panthers’ comeback by trading clutch three-pointers, with Abernathy putting on an impressive third-quarter performance to help tie the game.

On the other side, Coventry’s Kameryn Kennerly was a dominant force, leading all scorers with 25 points and refusing to let up. The game remained tightly contested until the final seconds, when Stone Hardy sank two free throws to give Norton the edge. In a strategic move, Norton fouled Kennerly with five seconds remaining, limiting Coventry’s chance to tie the game. Kennerly went 1-for-2 at the line, forcing Coventry to foul again, and Norton sealed the game by making both free throws to secure a thrilling win.

With this victory, Norton improves to 5-5 on the season, while Coventry, despite the tough loss, continues their strong season at 9-3. Both teams showed why they are forces to be reckoned with in the conference, and this game sets the tone for an exciting second half of the season.
