North Ridgeville girls take down Padua 71-41 in day 2 of Rocky River Holiday Classic

Rocky River, Ohio - On Wednesday morning the girls Padua High School and North Ridgeville High School teams came to face off in the first of two games. Yesterday Padua lost to Shaker Heights and North Ridgeville lost to Rocky River.

Winning the tip was North Ridgeville and Kat Crevda hit a layup for the first shot of the game. Later Grace Kingery hit a 3-pointer on the left wing also for North Ridgeville. Alyssa Weber went coast-to-coast and made an and-one sinking the free throw.

North Ridgeville’s Emma Takacs blocked a shot inside, but wasn’t able to take advantage of the transition opportunity. Cecilia Bowman got an offensive rebound, and then a layup for another two points for North Ridgeville. Then Audrey Butler got a buzzer-beating layup to end the first quarter with North Ridgeville in the lead 14-11.

To start the second quarter Kingery hit another triple from the same spot she did in the first quarter. Crevda grabbed an offensive rebound for a put back, and then Weber did the same for Padua. After a 5-0 run by Padua, Kingery went on her own 5-0 run. The score at halftime was 34-25 in favor of North Ridgeville.

To start the third quarter North Ridgeville got a steal that led to a Crevda layup. Crevda got another layup in transition after Padua missed a free throw. Kingery also hit a 3-pointer, but Weber responded by making her own 3-pointer. Kingery made another 3-pointer from way outside showing off her range.

Rayna Balderas pulled up from deep and cashed the shot in extending Ridgeville’s lead by twenty. Kingery made yet another triple, extending the lead even more. The score at the end of the third quarter was 59-36 North Ridgeville.

To start the final period Ally Tonsing ran in transition for Padua and scored a layup. Kingery scored another 3-pointer in transition, and then another one right afterwards. Kingery was on fire from distance hitting yet another 3-pointer. Alyssa Helman hit an and-one with less than a minute left for Padua, but it didn’t matter. The Rangers were in complete control throughout and took this one 71-41. Kingery led the way with 35 points making 9 triples in the process.
