The Nordonia Knights, led by first-year head coach Darin Ford, continued their hot streak Tuesday night, earning a key victory over the Stow Bulldogs in a Suburban League conference matchup. With the win, Nordonia improves to 5-1 on the season and extends its winning streak to four games. The Knights have now defeated Stow in their past three meetings.
Nordonia came out hot, jumping to an early lead and setting the tone for the night. The Bulldogs, coached by the highly respected David Close, one of the longest-tenured and most successful coaches in the area, battled back late in the game, but their comeback fell short as Nordonia held up and sealed the win.
Trevor Turnbull led the Knights with 16 points, while Aiden Fernandez added 14 and Jason Janosek added another 13. Nordonia’s outside shooting was a key factor, as they connected on seven three-pointers and went 10-for-18 at the free throw line.
For Stow, Austin Wilhoit led with a game-high 19 points, and Cam Marconi added 12 in the losing effort. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs showed flashes of their potential and proved, as always, to be a tough opponent under Coach Close.
This well-coached contest highlighted both teams’ competitive spirit, but Nordonia’s early dominance and balanced scoring ultimately carried them to victory as they continue to dominate in conference play.
