NDCL Lions: 2023 Football Season Preview

The Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin Lions are coming off a 2-8 record, looking to turn a new leaf behind first year head coach Tony Baldesare. Coach Baldesare had coached college football, but is making the transition to coach at the high school level. He's bringing over a new staff with him. Only three coaches remain from last seasons staff. NDCL is returning their starting QB Ryan Lipowski who earned the starting role last year as a sophomore, and is taking the reigns again for his junior year. The Lions open up the season at Lion Stadium for the first two weeks, they host defending WRC champs, the Riverside Beavers and the Lakeside Dragons in Week 2. A two-week road stint will see NDCL face Bedford and Gilmour Academy. St. Vincent-St. Mary's makes the trip to Chardon as the Lions await in Week 5. NDCL opens up the 2nd half of the season with their eyes set on the Howland Tigers in the battle of the big-cats. Their final non Crown conference game of the season comes with just four weeks left. John Hay takes a visit in Week 7 to conclude non-conference play for NDCL. The Crown conference opener takes the Lions on a trip to Cuyahoga Falls to square off with the Warriors of Walsh Jesuit. The final game at Lion Stadium for NDCL takes place on Friday the 13th, the Padua Franciscan Bruins visit the Lions in Week 9. Lake Catholic will be the regular season finale for NDCL as they travel to Mentor to conclude the 2023 regular season.

I interviewed TE/DE Josh Grambo and WR/DB Caleb Cirino about this upcoming season.

Lastly I spoke with first year head coach Tony Baldesare as he and his team look ahead to Friday nights matchup with Riverside.
