Medina, Ohio - On Tuesday night Walsh Jesuit came to town to face the Medina Bees. Coming into the game Medina was 7-3 while Walsh Jesuit was off to 6-2 start. Both teams were having a great season up to this point so this game had the makings of a good one.
To start the game both teams missed their first shot. Tyler Bell hit the first shot for Walsh, a triple in the corner. Sean Spicer also hit a triple for Walsh off of the glass. Benny Myers hit a 3-pointer for Medina, their first basket of the game.
Hunter Smith took the lead for Medina after yet another 3-pointer for them. The score at the end of the first was 21-13 in favor of Medina after a huge scoring run.
To start the second quarter Brock Beech hit a 3-pointer in the left corner for Medina and then Myers hit another on the next possession. Jaylen Payne got an offensive rebound for Medina, and then immediately got his layup to fall. Medina lead 37-21 at the half. Myers led the way with 15 points.
To start the second half Max Matta hit a layup inside for Walsh Jesuit, the first basket of the third quarter. Walsh’s Keith Rivers blocked a shot inside, but the Warriors failed to convert on their fast break opportunity.
Tyler Bell hit an and-one inside, but missed the free throw and Walsh got the offensive rebound. Rivers blocked another shot, and the Warriors converted a layup in transition this time. The score at the end of the third was 46-33 in favor of Medina.
To start the final quarter Matta got an offensive board, and put the ball back up for two points. Medina stayed conservative with their lead, mainly taking shots near the rim.
Both teams were attempting a lot of free throws in the final period, as they both were in the bonus to start the fourth. Medina pulled away for a 59-40 victory. Brock Beech led the way with 17 points while Benny Myers chipped in 15.
