Leopards Use Big 3rd Inning to Conquer Knights; Advance to Districts with 11-1 Victory

Louisville, OH- The #3 Seed Louisville Leopards welcomed the #23 seeded Nordonia Knights to town in Sectional softball action. Nordonia was fresh off their Sectional Semi-Final victory over Kent Roosevelt and looked to play spoiler on the Leopards great season. Unfortunately for the Knights, the Leopards were rested and prepared for the challenge.

Taylor Schneider toed the rubber for the Leps and set the Knights down in order to start the evening. Louisville Senior Matti Benson drew a one-out walk and quickly swiped second. Addy Campbell would come to the dish with 2 down and Benson on second, a 15 pitch at bat would ensue, with multiple foul balls sent deep down the line in left before she drew a walk. In stepped Leah Claugus who sent a shot to center for a three-run home run.

In the top of the 2nd, Brooke Becker would lead off the inning with a solo shot to cut the Leopard lead to 3-1. However, Anna Sirohman would lead off the bottom half of the 2nd with a home run of her own to build the lead back to 3 after two innings of play, 4-1.

Nordonia would load the bases with 1 out in the top of the third, but Schneider would walk the tight rope and escape the inning with no damage on the score board. It would be the Knights best chance on the day to cut into the Leopard lead.

Louisville would send 11 batters to the plate in the bottom half of the 3rd. Seven Lady Leopards would score, including another 3-run home run off the bat of Claugus. Other RBI's included a single by Campbell, a 2 run single by Brooke Haren and Benson reaching on an error that brought Haren across.

The 4th inning and top of the 5th went by without much fanfare, and the game was ended by mercy rule, 11-1. Louisville moves on to Districts next Monday in Mentor, as they play Riverside in the semi-finals.
