Lake County Captains Force Game Three with 6-2 Victory Over Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Midwest League Championship Series

The Lake County Captains defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6-2 in Game 2 of the Midwest Championship Series on Tuesday night at Classic Park.

With the victory the Captains have forced a deciding Game 3 on Wednesday night as they will play for the Midwest League Title.


In game two, the Captains got down early 1-0 in the top of the first.


However, they came right back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first inning.

The Captains scored when Wuilfredo Antunez drove in Travis Bazzana from third base on a fielder's choice.

After the Timber Rattlers took a 2-1 lead in the top of third inning, Jonah Advincula hit a 2-run home run to give the Captains a 3-2 lead.


After the Game 2 victory, Advincula talked about his home run.


"It was a good feeling," said Advincula. "I haven't done something like that before, so it was super cool to do that and it was great for the team. So I was just happy I could do a job for the team."

The Captains added a run in the sixth inning when Antunez again drove in Bazzana to give the Captains a 4-2 lead.

The scoring for the game was completed when the Captains added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Angel Genoa hit a ground rule double two drive in two runs and give the Captains a 6-2 lead.


For the contest, the Captains collected 13 hits and five players had multiple hit games.


The Captains were led offensively by Genao (3-5, 2 doubles, 2 RBI), Advincula (2-4, home run, 2 RBI), Antunez (2-4, 2 RBI), Esteban Gonzalez (2-3), and Jake Fox (2-5).


On the mound, Matt "Tugboat" Williams threw 6.2 innings, giving up only 2 runs on 7 hits and striking out 5 batters.

Picking up the save for the Captains was Adam Tulloch who threw 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball.


The Captains will return to the field for Game 3 on Wednesday night as they take on the Timber Rattlers for the Midwest League Title.
