Kent, OH- The Kent State Women's team took on a baseball mantra Saturday afternoon. While 1-9 is a common hot button phrase on the baseball diamond, Coach Todd Starkey's squad put it to use against the visiting Broncos of Western Michigan.

In the opening 2 quarters, Coach Starkey ran 9 deep, with each player scoring at least once. That balance made way for a box score at the halftime break that had Senior Forward Bridgett Dunn leading the way with 8. Not only was the attack balanced, but they did so at an accurate clip, shooting 46.9% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. The Flashes held a 38-23 advantage at the break.

Despite the Broncos enhanced defensive pressure and entering the bonus midway through the 3rd quarter, the Flashes were able to retain their double-digit advantage through the frame, with the score being 57-42 headed into the final quarter of play.

For the game, the Broncos were led offensively by Hannah Spitzley, with 18 points. Leading the way for the victorious Flashes was Jenna Batsch with 19. The Flashes (11-7, 4-2) take the road next week with MAC trips to Central Michigan and Miami (OH).
