Kent, OH- Following the women's victory over Western Michigan, the Men's team squared off with MAC foe Miami on the backend of a Saturday doubleheader. It was a back-and-forth affair through much of the first half, until the Golden Flashes were able to string a run together in the latter parts to enter the half with a 41-32 lead.

It didn't take long for that advantage to disappear as the Red Hawks came out of the break red hot. An 8-0 cut the Flashes lead to 1 before Delrecco Gillespie broke the ice on the home team's hoop with 15:40 left in the 2nd half.

Miami was able to take the lead a few minutes later and never looked back. Complexing the Golden Flashes issues was starting Center Cli'Ron Hornbeak picking up two quick fouls to open the half, giving him 4 and a ticket to the bench for much of the next 12 minutes of game play.

The Golden Flashes had an abysmal second half shooting, going 8-32 from the field, including 1-17 from beyond the arc. On the day, the Flashes shot 23-60 total, and 4-29 from three. The reliance on the outside shots puzzled Head Coach Rob Senderoff, who lamented their shot choices in his post-game press conference. In the first half, the team was 53% from the field, including 3-12 from deep.

Leading the way for the RedHawks (13-4, 5-0) was Brant Byers, who came off the bench and scored 15. Kent State (11-6, 2-3) will head on the road to take on Toledo on Tuesday evening.
