As we prepare to begin coverage of the USFL, here's a deeper look into one of the teams that will be calling Tom Benson Stadium at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio home this spring. The Pittsburgh Maulers are one of the Inaugural USFL 2.0 teams from the 2022 season. Last season, all games were played in Birmingham, Alabama despite each team having a city associated with it. This season the league has grown to include multiple sites, with Canton housing the Maulers and the New Jersey Generals, who Believeland Media will be supplying coverage for throughout their seasons. Here's a look at how the Maulers are made up with a few names you may recognize from their stints in the NFL or College.

Ray Horton is a name that should register with Cleveland Browns fans, as the defensive-minded coach served two stints (2013 & 2016) as Defensive Coordinator for the Browns. Horton is in his first year as Head Coach of the Maulers. The Tacoma, WA native played his college ball at the University of Washington before being a 2nd round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1983. His NFL playing career lasted 10 seasons, with him donning the Bengal stripes from 1983-1988 before joining 'America's Team' and suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys from 1989-1992. He transitioned to coaching in 1994 and has served as Defensive backs/Secondary coach or Defensive Coordinator for much of the past 3 decades. Teams Horton has coached include the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins, Bengals, Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, and Browns twice with a stint in Tennessee with the Titans sandwiched between and most recently with the Redskins in 2019. He has been away from coaching since the 2019 season before being tabbed Head Coach of the Maulers ahead of this season.
Roster: LB Reuben Foster
A name you may be familiar with that is currently on the Maulers roster is Reuben Foster, a Linebacker out of Alabama. In college, Foster was a Unanimous All-American and winner of the Dick Butkus Award, given to the nation's top collegiate linebacker, in 2016. He was a part of the Crimson Tide National Championship team in 2015. Foster was a late first-round pick (31) of the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. He was a part of the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie team in 2017. He also played with the Washington Redskins/Football Team from 2018-2020. This is his first year in the USFL.
