Cuyahoga Falls, OH - On Wednesday night at Cuyahoga Falls High School the Doylestown Chippewa Lady Chipps took on the Shaker Heights Laurel Lady Tigers in a Division 3 / Region 9 Regional semi-final matchup.
To start the game the Lady Tigers looked great offensively putting up 17 points, mainly off the backs of seniors Paris Gilmore and Janyah Bohanon who combined for a total of 10 points.
On the other side of the ball the Chipps were also looking great on offense as Abigail Henegar was able to create opportunities for her teammates, while putting up offensive numbers. The Lady Chipps would go into the second quarter down two points at 17-15.
Entering the second quarter both teams needed to make a splash offensively to pull away and they both did as the Lady Chipps, led by Henegar, were able to put up 20 points in the second and take the lead.
The Lady Tigers were still making things interesting as they were able to keep up with the Lady Chipps for most of the second quarter. It was tied 27-27 with a minute left, but Chippewa was able to pull away at the last minute going into halftime leading 35-27.
Coming out of the locker rooms Chippewa was looking to pull away. They kept fighting offensively but slowed down this quarter only putting up 11 points. That was still enough to keep the lead but not by much.
The Lady Tigers were going all out this quarter to try and catch up to the Lady Chipps, and they almost did putting up 16 points on the back of Gilmore. Warrensville Heights was only down three entering the final quarter at 46-43.
In the final quarter the Lady Tigers had to outscore the Lady Chipps as Gilmore put up six points of her own this quarter and the team was able to put up a total of 17 points.
Led by Henegar, the Lady Chipps were able to close out the game as they put up 23 points to finish off a 69-60 Regional semi-final victory. They will face the winner of the Garrettsville Lady G-Men vs. the Shaker Heights Laurel Gators.
The MVP of the game was Abigail Henegar who put up 18 points in the game.
