MANTUA, OH- Crestwood High School was the site for the girls Division IV District semi-final between the 8 seed host Red Devils (17-6) and the 14 seed Cloverleaf Colts (16-7). The Red Devils took down West Geauga in the Sectional Final while the Colts knocked off Youngstown Ursuline. The two teams met earlier in the season on December 4th at Cloverleaf with the Colts taking that matchup 54-33. The Red Devils turned the tables leading from start to finish on their way to a 57-37 win.
Hannah Ward got the Red Devils going with a three ball followed by a Becca Brady three as Crestwood jumped out to a 6-0 lead.
After a Cloverleaf free throw split by Evie Barth, it was Ward and Brady once again connecting on back to back three's for a 12-1 lead prompting a Colts timeout.
Cloverleaf would get a three from Mackenzie Seiwerth out of the timeout to stop the Red Devils run. Crestwood scored four of the final six points to take a 16-6 lead after one.
After a Grace Harper score to open the 2nd, Seiwerth hit another three to make it an 18-9 game. Crestwood would then go on a 7-0 run capped off by another Ward three to open the lead up to 25-9.
Following a Saige Foky three for the Colts, Crestwood would end the half on a 12-1 run including two more three's from Ward and a shooters touch bounce from Harper to end the half leading 37-13.
Hannah Ward led the way with 17 first half points for the Red Devils while Mackenzie Seiwerth paced the Colts with 6 points.
Liv Martini started off the second half with a score inside to give Crestwood their biggest lead at 39-13. Cloverleaf would score seven of the next nine including five straight from Mackenzie Seiwerth to cut the deficit to 41-20.
Crestwood then scored six straight to push it out to 47-20 after a Maddie Dustman score inside.
The Red Devils would hold a commanding 49-24 lead after three.
Cloverleaf was not ready to concede as they went on a 13-1 run after a pair of Grace Harper free throws to cut the deficit to 51-37 with just under four minutes to play.
Hannah Ward would get a big score inside to stop the run as they would score the final six points of the game capped off by an Abby Guyette and-one conversion to take the big 57-37 win.
Hannah Ward was tops in scoring for the Red Devils with 19 points including five three's. Becca Brady chipped in 12 points while Abby Guyette was big on the boards with 12 rebounds. Evie Smith led the Colts with 9 points.
The Red Devils move on to the D4 District Championship on Saturday in Lordstown when they take on the #1 seed Canfield Cardinals who defeated Lakeview.
