Cleveland Browns 2022 Fantasy Preview

It's the end of August, meaning the 2022 NFL Season is approximently two weeks away and many Fantasy Football drafts are taking place across the country. Let's take a look at Browns players value in Fantasy Football for the upcoming season.

Quarterback:

For the first 11 games, Jacoby Brissett will be the Browns starting QB. Outside of SuperFlex leagues, Brissett can be left on the wavier wire. Once Deshaun Watson comes back from his suspension, fire him up as a mid-tier QB1. After missing the last season and a half, expect him to spend his six starts shaking off the rust.

Running back:

I'm always a fan of selecting Cleveland's RBs in fantasy leagues. Nick Chubb has been a Top 10 fantasy back the last three seasons and might be the No. 1 back if we get a full season out of him. If you're drafting after the fourth pick, Chubb is the guy to take. As mentioned earlier, Chubb normally misses a couple games so grabbing a handcuff for him is important.

Kareem Hunt is a weekly flex play with Chubb fully healthy. If Chubb goes down, that Browns run game doesn't miss a beat ,and you can slot him into your RB2 slot with no worries. Grabbing Hunt in the middle rounds of your draft could pay off nicely.

Wide receiver:

Amari Cooper and Donavon Peoples-Jones give Brissett some decent weapons. Cooper has never gotten the credit he deserves but is as reliable as they come. He rarely misses a game and gets 100-plus targets a season. No matter who is in at QB, Cooper is always a lower-end WR1. If you need a decent reciever in the mid rounds, draft him with confidence.

DPJ is a guy that will go later in most drafts but has good upside and could be a solid WR3 play most weeks. He'll post great numbers in the fantasy playoffs when Watson returns from suspension. A potential deep play threat, second year man Anthony Schwartz could be a sneaky waiver wire pick up. Cleveland expects him to have a bigger role in the offense and should be targeted to stretch the field with his 4.2 speed.

Tight end:

David Njoku is entering his sixth season in the league but is still just 26-years-old and the potential is still there. 2022 could be a huge year for him even with Brissett starting the first 11 games. Njoku will actually benifit with Brissett under center, as he will favor Njoku to move the chains on shorter situations and gives him a big bodied target in the redzone. In a nutshell, he'll be Brissett's security blanket. Target him towards the end of your draft, and you could be landing a Top 12 TE.

Other notable players:

Sometimes it can take an injury or trade for a lower role player to make a heavy impact. A few guys to keep an eye on:

  • David Bell

  • D'ernest Johnson

  • Demtric Felton

  • Harrison Bryant

These guys will go undrafted but could give you some nice weeks if more playing times comes to them.
