Another season of OSU Football is closing in, meaning every analyst and website release's their preseason polls. Ohio State will always find themselves inside of that ranking, with the only questions being where, why, and can they win it all?
AFCA Coaches Poll: No. 2
CBS Coaches Poll: No. 2
USA Today Coaches Poll: No. 2
AP Poll: No. 2
It has been close to a decade since Ohio State has won it all in College Football. They will head into the fourth year under head coach Ryan Day, who still has only lost one game in the Big Ten and has only lost twice in the regular season. A star studded offense returns with a revamped defense, helping Ohio State to become the unanimous No. 2 team in the nation ahead of Georgia, Clemson, Notre Dame, and behind the unanimous No. 1 Crimson Tide of Alabama.
It seems likely this year Ohio State and Bama will fight for the top spot all the way into mid-January. Teams behind them this year have either lost most of their team to graduation and the draft like Georgia or are extremely unproven, such as Clemson and Notre Dame. Ohio State and Alabama have clear separation from the rest of the pack in the early stages of the season. A National Championship is in the picture for the Buckeyes if they can fix their defensive woes from last year, and the offense repeats at the top of the class.
Ohio State kicks off the season against No. 5 Notre Dame Saturday, September 3rd at 7:30 p.m. from Ohio Stadium in Columbus on ABC.
