Bombers break the dam and sweep Beavers to stay undefeated in WRC play

Bainbridge OH- On Thursday the (11-2 / 4-0) Kenston Bombers hosted the (11-2 / 4-1) Riverside Beavers in a clash of the two top seeds in the Western Reserve Conference as the Bombers held their "Volley for the Cause" match.



Courtney Johnson and the Beavers served first, but her serving error put the Bombers in front. A Peyeton Pampush error and Riley Horvat kill the set was tight early. Riley Rosneck would create Bomber breathing room as she served 4 consecutive aces.



Sadie Poudevigne and Avari Amstutz both picked up kills for Kenston, Sarah Fulton answered back with a kill of her own for Riverside, the Bombers clinging to a 14-12 lead. A 5-1 run from Kenston forced a Beaver timeout. A run was aided by a Rosneck kill and a Lindy Kerchenski ace as the Bombers held a 19-13 advantage. Poudevigne continued her strong first set by picking up a block and then a kill in a back and forth rally. Peyeton Pampush capped off a set 1 win with her kill as the Bombers walked away with a 25-18 victory.



Ashlyn Myers served for Kenston, but Riverside took the lead as Savannah Laurenty opened set 2 with a kill and Jaclyn Zgone followed it up with one of her own. Before the Bombers knew it they were glaring at an 8-5 deficit as Bombers coach Christian Jolley used a timeout. Avari Amstutz came up with a block and kill. But Riverside continued to hold strong as Johnson rejected Pampush, forcing another timeout from Kenston. They responded well, cutting the Beaver lead all the way down to 1 with their 8-3 run that was capped off with a Amstutz kill.



Laurenty and Fulton both connected for back to back kills but Peyeton Pampush responded with two of her own as she continued a great night offensively. The set growing ever tighter as is continued, with Riverside using another timeout with them leading Kenston 22-21. After awhile, the Bombers found victory by the skin of their teeth. Sadie Poudevigne came up with a tip for the win. Kenston victorious in set 3 with a 26-24 win and 2-0 match lead.



Pampush began set 3 with another kill as both Avari Amstutz and Raegan Timmons went off the block for kills as the Bomber offense soared early and often as they lead 11-5. Pampush picked up another kill, leading to a 15-9 Kenston lead.



Riverside found themselves down 7 and called a timeout. Kate Herberger's all out effort on a dig lead to Sadie Poudevigne's rejection before the Beaver timeout.



Horvat added another kill to her tally, but Rosneck followed up Hershbergers hustle with some of her own, setting up Peyeton Pampush with another kill.



Timmons picked up a kill and Sadie Poudevigne ended the night with her final kill of the night as the Bombers sweep the Beavers with a 25-18 set 3 win.
